Hahnel Powerstation Tc Compact Manual Winch

Firstly, many thanks to the guys that posted a reply to my query on the 2100uz. With this same camera was supplied a Hehnel TC charger for use with a set of AA 1600 NI-MH batteries. No instructions came with the charger and no indication of the charging time or rate on the batteries or the charger. The charger has 2 red LED's which light on plugging in, but even after 17 hours on charge the LED's are still lit and I have no way of determining when the Batt's are fully charged, or if the LED's are supposed to go out or change colour etc. Anyone any experience of this particular charger or how to detemine when full charge has occured.can you over charge the batteries? Thanks for any help. Terry, I think I have the answer to your Hahnel battery charger query, direct from Mr.

Hahnel himself no less! I recently bought an Oly C-2100uz, but here in the UK it does not come with a charger or rechargeable batteries (unlike the US model).

So I bought these separately and, totally by coincidence, I bought a Hahnel TC charger plus eight AA 1600 NI-MH batteries, and as soon as I charged the batteries I had exactly the same question as you. The instructions that come with the charger specify a 14 hour charge for 1600mAh batteries (and less for lower spec batteries) and they stress that the batteries should not be charged for longer than necessary as this can reduce battery life. However, the instructions are not clear about the purpose of the two red LEDs, therefore I emailed Hahnel for more details (their website is at ). For your information I have reproduced below my question and the reply from Mr. Hope this helps. Terry S ============================================== MY QUESTION: I have a very simple question that I hope you can answer. Earlier this week I purchased a Hahnel Powerstation TC Plus Battery Charger together with 8 Hahnel AA NiMH batteries -- a very nice compact design at a very reasonable price.

However, it is not clear from the instructions how to determine when the batteries are fully charged and should be removed from the charger. There are two red LEDs on the charger that light up when the batteries are charging -- do these lights go out when the batteries are fully charged? Yesterday I charged 4 of my AA batteries for over 15 hours and the LEDs were still lit. The instructions say that 14 hours should be sufficient to charge 1600mAh batteries and that the batteries should not be left charging for longer than is necessary, therefore after 15 hours I removed them from the charger. If the LEDs do not go out to indicate full charge then in the future, when the batteries may not be fully discharged, how will I know what charge time is required?

============================================== THE REPLY: The LEDs show that a battery is connected and is charging. The TC Plus is a trickle charger and does not indicate when the battery is full. To charge an empty Hahnel 1600mAh battery will take 14 hours to charge. You will have to note the time of charge and remove batteries at the approx. We have just launched an new charger Twin Powerstation which will indicate when the battery is full for your reference.
